Happy belated National Day singapore.
And I just felt like doing this. My top 10 K songs. In no particular order.
1. Sorry Sorry- Super Junior
Sorry Sorry Sorry Sorry.
Fantastic hook song characteristic. Words are repeated either 3 or 4 times in the song, with a really funky, distinct beat in the background. Helps that the MV involves 13 hot guys in suits. Alright.
2. Haru Haru- Big Bang
I finally realised...that I'm nothing without you, I was so wrong, forgive me.
This song is just plain awesome. Touching and catchy at the same time, if ur gonna listen to it, watch it with the MV on youtube. The lyrics are really meaningful, and Big Bang's style is written all over this song- powerful rap verses leading up to the climax of an incredible chorus. I didn't even know I liked rap before this one.
3. Gee- Girls Generation, A.K.A. SNSD, A.K.A. So Nyuh Shi Dae,
Gee Gee Gee Gee Gee
This is it. The song that knocked Wonder Girl's Nobody record of 6 weeks on the korean music charts. It stayed there for 9 whole weeks before getting knocked off by Kara's Honey. I can't really comment much. Soothing beat, extremely catchy tune, cute voices. Has a hook song characteristic equal to or surpassing Sorry Sorry. I had this song stuck in my head for days during class. IMO, MV isnt that fantastic though.
4. Neorago (Its You)- Super Junior
Neorago.
Possibly my favourite k song. Repetitive, but not in a hook song characteristic way, deep, but not in the tear-jerking way, its really difficult to describe this song. All I can say is, go listen to it. The MV is really well done, watch the version that has both the dancing and the drama.
5. Mirotic- DBSK
I've got you.....under my skin.
This song rocks hard. It has a half beat theory thing, which according to some music theory, makes the song more addictive everytime u listen to it. Doesn't make much of an impact at first, but listen to it more and you'll find yourself crawling back to it. Super unique rhythmn, OK lyrics, danceable beat. Man, it was unlike anything I listened to before. Watch the MV.
6. SHINee- Replay
I need a replay.
It was a tossup between this and Juliette, but I found that i just liked Replay better. It makes for great easy listening, MV is semi-interesting, overall a refreshing song. Sorry, can't comment much on this one either.
7. 2PM- Again and Again
Again and again and again and agaiiin.
Sorry khairi, but I like this one over I hate you haha. Was 2PM's comeback song, and boy, was it good. The MV didn't make much of an impression on me but, go watch their lives. Again and Again complements their dancing prowess and has a pretty damn good hook song characteristic. Also, there's a pause when Nickhun comes in and does his chest wave this. Good god. Winner.
8. Big Bang- Lies
I'm so sorry but I love you.
This was the very beginning of Big Bang's breakthrough into the mainstream market. Haha, I don't feel like spoilering anything here, the MV is good.
9. T-ara - Lies
Good god, I love the vocals on this one. It is NOT a cover of Big Bang's Lies. There are 3 versions of the song, part 1, part 2 and the ballad version. My personal fav is part 2 (which they promote live) then the ballad, then part 1. The group is extremely inexperienced and stage presence is slightly bad, but give them enough time and they'll give SNSD and 2NE1 a run for their money. Seriously.
10. DBSK- Love in the Ice/ Doushitte Kimi Wo Suki Ni Natte Shima
The above are 2 seperate songs, but the genre is extremely similar. I don't actually know if there's a Love in the Ice MV, but the Doushitte one is a must watch. Its a jap song though, but its by a korean artist, so I guess its acceptable in this category haha.
Thats about it. Like loads more good songs, but this is my current top 10.
Now, to go mug chinese.
